現在11種類存在する基本土地の1つ。もちろん皆勤賞である。特殊タイプの「基本」と基本土地タイプの「山」を持つ。

火炎破/Fireblastや火猫の襲撃/Firecat Blitz、ラースのドラゴン/Rathi Dragonなど、何かと生け贄に捧げられることが多い。最強カードの話になると島/Islandといっしょに出てくることがあるが、その主な理由はこれらの山を生け贄に捧げるカードの存在だろう。

• アラビアンナイトは本来基本土地は存在しないカード・セットのはずだったが、手違いで山/Mountainのみ収録された。この逸話から、ごく黎明期には「全カードの中で最も生産された枚数が多いカード」なのではと思われたこともあった。後年には構築済みデッキの発売などにより基本土地だけでも生産数に差が出るようになったので一概には言えなくなり、どちらにせよ正確なところは不明である。

ルール文章の中で単に「森」などと書かれていた場合、それらはカード名ではなく基本土地タイプを参照している（CR:109.2）。基本土地のカード名を参照する場合はニッサの激励/Nissa's Encouragementのように「《森/Forest》という名前のカード/a card named Forest」などと書かれる。
